INFORMATION REGARDING MANAGEMENT OF THE INSTITUTION AND DETAILS OF THE EXISTING & PROPOSED COURSES. The Management namely PUNJAB EDUCATIONAL & SOCIAL SOCIETY, CHEEMA MANDI (SANGRUR) is a society which is running the following Pvt. (self financed) composite institution.
B.Ed. Regular Course The Bachelor of Education programme, generally known as B.Ed., is a professional course that prepares teachers for upper primary or middle level (classes VI-VIII), secondary (classes IX-X) and senior secondary (classes XI-XII) levels. Duration and working days (1) Duration B.Ed. programme shall be of duration of two academic years. (2) Working Days (a) There shall be at least two hundred working days each year exclusive of the period of examination and admission, out of which at least forty days shall be for practice teaching or skill development in nearby schools. (b) The institution shall work for a minimum of thirty six hours in a week (five or six days), during which physical presence in the institution of all the teachers and student teachers is necessary to ensure their availability for individual advice, guidance, dialogues and consultation as and when needed. Intake of Seats – 100 (Co-Education) D.El.Ed. (ETT) Course The elementary teacher education programme through Open and Distance Learning System is intended primarily for upgrading the professional competence of working teachers in the elementary schools (primary and upper primary/middle). It also envisages bringing into its fold those teachers who have entered the profession without formal teacher training. A useful and viable mode for the training of teachers presently serving in the elementary schools, this mode is useful for providing additional education support to the teachers and several other educational functionaries working in the school system. Intake of Seats – 50 (Co-Education) M.Ed. Course The Master of Education (M.Ed.) programme is meant for candidates desirous of pursuing post-graduate programme in education. Besides preparing teacher educators, it also aims at preparing educational administrators, supervisors and researchers. The M.Ed. programme would comprise theoretical courses including specialized courses in the discipline of education and related practical/field work including exposure to and training in a teacher education institution. In addition, research work in the form of a dissertation would form an essential part of the programme. Depending on the actual design and declared objectives, the programme provides opportunities for students to extend as well as deepen their knowledge and understanding of Education, specialize in selected areas including Teacher Education and also acquire related research skills. Duration and working days (1) Duration The M.Ed. programme shall be of duration of two academic years. (2) Working Days (a) There shall be at least two hundred working days each year exclusive of periods of examination and admission etc., for instruction, field work for dissertation and internship in a teacher education institution. (b) The institution shall function for a minimum thirty six hours in a week (five or six days). The teacher educators are expected to be available for individual attention, guidance and counseling for the student & teacher throughout the working hours. Intake, Eligibility and Admission Procedure (1) Intake of Seats - 50 (Co-Education) (2) Eligibility (i) Candidates who have obtained at least 55% Marks in the B.Ed. degree are eligible for admission. (ii) The reservation for SC/ST/OBC and other categories shall be as per the rules of the Central Government / State Government, whichever is applicable. There shall be relaxation of five percent marks in favour of SC/ST/OBC and other categories of candidates. (3) Admission Procedure Admission shall be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or in the entrance examination or any other selection process as per the policy of the State Government/U.T. Administration and the University. B.A. Candidate should have passed at least one academic year previously the 10+2 examination of Punjab School Education Board or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto. B.C.A. Candidate should have passed at least one academic year previously the 10+2 examination of Punjab School Education Board or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto. B.COM. & BBA Candidate should have passed at least one academic year previously the 10+2 examination of Punjab School Education Board or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto. P.G.D.CA. Candidate should have passed Graduate in any subject & must have passed Punjabi upto Maric Level. M.SC. (I.T.) Candidate should have passed BCA/B.A. with 50% marks of PGDCA with 50% marks. BSC(ALL SUBJECTS) Candidate should have passed 12th with 50% General Category and 45%marks in S.C. category.
